Pleasing the planets with Jyotish
I was lucky enough to attend a course last summer given by Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute called the Sister Sciences Course that included Jyotish, Vastu, Hasta, and Yoga. I’m sure you’ve heard of yoga but you may not be familiar with the other sister sciences. All of these topics fall in the Vedic studies and have incredible information that completely drew me in.
Vastu is one of the vedic sciences and according to Dr. Robert Svoboda “Breathing Life into Space”. Think of placement of your things and even placement of a building, what direction should it face for optimal function in a home or office.
Hasta or Hasta Samudrika Shastra is the reading of palms. This vedic science works in conjunction with Jyotish (we’re coming to that!), especially when it’s hard to read a chart for some reason like an exact birth time is missing or in the case of identical twins with almost the same birth time. A practitioner who’s trained in Hasta can use this science to tell the difference between identical twins, and of course many other things (note to self another blog topic).
I’ve been studying Jyotish for nearly a year now and it’s an amazing science. Jyotish is the study of Light. And the study of light includes the planets and the light they give.
When you look at a planet and see the light given, the next logical idea is to understand the color of light for each planet. Each planet is assigned to a day of the week and the color of the planet can be used as an offering to the planet. Think of it as appeasing the planet by wearing the color associated to the planet.
Here’s a list for your reference:
- SUNDAY: Represents the Sun which are the colors of Red or Blood Red
- MONDAY: Represents Moon which is White in color
- TUESDAY: Represents Mars and the color Red
- WEDNESAY: Represents the planet Mercury and the color Green
- THURSDAY: Represents the planet Jupiter and the color Yellow
- FRIDAY: Represents the planet Venus and Pastels
- SATURDAY: Represents the plan Saturn and the colors of Black and Blue
Wearing a color for each day of the week (and you don’t have to go all out and wear a complete ensemble) pleases the planet!
If you haven’t already had your chart read by a Jyotishi, now would be a good time to do that. Not only can you wear colors to please the planets each and every day, but you can find your rising sign and know what your primary color should be.
I would love to hear from you, your thoughts and any way I can help you understand this amazing science!!
